Once again the name Romania A appears as the top seeded outfit in a Girls’ Team event at an ITTF Junior Circuit Tournament.
The European country headed the list at the Bahrain Junior Open which concluded on Sunday 9th March 2008 and that country once again occupies top spot in Qatar, at the Doha Junior Open which commences on Tuesday 11th March 2008.
However, there is a difference of personnel. Cristina Hirici retains her place in the country’s premier junior team but in Doha she partners Camelia Postoaca whereas in Bahrain her comrade in arms was Andrea Dospina.
Andrea Dospina is on duty for Romania `B’ in Doha where she joins forces with Anamaria Sebe; the young ladies are seeded two.
Asian Opposition
Two strong teams from Europe occupy the top two seeded places with Asian adversaries filling the third and fourth seeded spots.
Singapore’s Isabelle Li and Zena Sim are seeded two with Hong Kong’s Lee Ho Ching and Ng Wing Name being seeded four.
European Presence
Similarly in the Boys’ Team event there is a very strong European presence in Doha.
Borna Kovac and Frane Kojic of Croatia occupy the top seeded berth with Belgium’s Laric Jean and Julien Indeherberg seeded two; Romania’s Hunor Szocs and Cosmin Daescu are seeded three with the Iranian trio of Noshad Alamiyan, Hamidresa Taherkhani and Seyed Masoud Yaghoubi the number four seeds.
No Change
Meanwhile in the cadet team events it is no change in the top seeded places; the pairs who were seeded one in Bahrain are seeded one in Doha.
Marcelo Aguirre of Paraguay and Soumyajit Ghosh of India, the players who contested the Cadet Boys’ Singles final in Bahrain, are seeded one with Romania’s Andreea Rosca Calooenescu and Bernadette Szocs, the runners up to the Koreans Cheon Se Eun and Bang Ji Ae in Manama, the number seeds in the Cadet Girls’ Team competition.
Seeds
Second seeds in the Cadet Boys’ Team event are Chiu Chung Hei and Yuen Ho Hin of Hong Kong with Singapore’s Pang Xue Jie and Clarence Chew seeded three and the Qatari pairing of Fahed Almughanne and Mohd Bilal the fourth seeds.
In the Cadet Girls’ Team event, Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Fung and Ng Ya Ku are the second seeds with Katsiaryna Baravok and Yana Drykina of Belarus seeded three and the Egyptian duo of Nadeen Eldawlatly and Galiah Nasser seeded four.
Schedule
The finals of the team events will be played on Wednesday 12th March with the individual events commencing on Thursday 13th March and concluding on Saturday 15th March 2008.
