Romania qualified for the girls team final of the 2007 World Junior Championships (WJTTC) in Palo Alto, USA. The protégées of Elena Sebe overcame Poland 3-2.
Elizabeta Samara again scored two points but it was Cristina Hirici, who beat Natalia Bak in the decisive fifth match. Fifteen year old Hirici is still a cadet but already a key player in the Romanian junior team.
"I am glad that I play as my coaches want", she said about her role in the team and promised that they will play "without any fear" in the final against China.
The Girls in Red Dominate
China is on track to win the first gold medal. The girls from the Middle Kingdom beat Korea Republic in an outstanding manner 3-0. Korea only won one single game but never scored more than six points in one of the other games.
England Finishes on Fifth Place
The matches for the positions from 5 to 8 in the boys' team event were a European affair. The boys from England proved their strength and overcame first Russia and then Germany.
