In the last group match of the Girls’ Team event, Chinese Taipei prevailed 3-0 against New Zealand. However, there was no reason to celebrate for the Asian team.
Romania won 3-2 against Hungary and after some calculations it was clear that the two European teams prevailed in the Group B. Chinese Taipei only finished third in spite of two wins.
Thrilling Match for Romania
Although the Hungarians were already qualified for the quarter-finals, they wanted to win against their neighbouring country. The Romanians for their part had to win in order to qualify for the quarter-finals.

After Dospina had brought her team 2-1 ahead, Cristina Hirici could have made the decision in favour of Hungary. Hirici eventually lost 16-14 in the fifth game in spite of a 2-0 lead.
Luckily for Romania, Camelia Postoaca beat defensive player Edina Toth in the crucial fifth match to put her team in the quarter-finals.
